The other morning while Gracie was getting dressed for school she came out of her bathroom and asked,"Mommy, do beetles sleep for a long time?" Let me explain, Gracie found this little black beetle and decided to make it her pet. She put it in one of her empty lip gloss containers and let it crawl all over her for a few days. Not knowing how attached she had become to this bug I said, "Gracie it's probably dead." Wrong answer! She began to cry and cry. Now, feeling like the biggest jerk, I said, "Well, would you like a fish?" So, that is how we ended up with Milie. Everyday after school now Gracie rushes up to her room to watch Milie. I am surprised how entertaining a fish can be to a little girl who has been pet deprived her whole life. Hopefully this will keep her off my back for a kitty or puppy for a while.

Milie the fish!
