Happy Thanksgiving!

So, this thanksgiving while we were at our second stop of the day, the Ramsey Thanksgiving, I went out to my car to get something I had forgotten. As I was rummaging through the car I heard a faint, "Mommy! Mommy!" I looked around but didn't see anything. I heard it again, and I knew it was Grant but I couldn't see him anywhere, and I didn't even know he was outside so I was a little worried! The home I grew up in is south Gilbert and on 5 acers so it can be hard to find a missing child right away. After looking around a little bit more I finally spotted Grant way over on the other side of the yard. As I walked closer to him I heard him say, "Stuck". Remember, here in Arizona it had rained on Thanksgiving so there was a lot of mud around the yard. I knew then that he had gotten himself stuck in the mud. I ran over to him but of course before helping him I called the whole family out to see and take pictures. My mom just kept saying, "Classic Grant!" My brother had to pull him out of the mud but his shoes stayed behind. Knowing something like this was bound to happened with mud everywhere Kent and I brought an extra change of clothes for him. Thanks Grant for all the laughs!
Other fun events of the day were Kent learning how to drive the antique tractor my dad rebuilt, and eating a disgusting amount of whip cream on
his pumpkin pie!

All Hallows Eve

We had a fun Halloween this year. We waited until the last minute to carve our pumpkin the night before! Kent gets out his jig saw and carves it in the backyard. Gracie was Hannah Montana, Grant was Diego, and I was Dora. Kent put some pink hair color in his hair and said he was Pink. The night of Halloween our friend Mary was so sweet to let a bunch of us friends invade her home. We ate chili before heading out to trick or treat. After trick or treating the kids watched a Halloween movie and we all ate pie and cookies. It was a fun time. Thank you Mary and Richard!

If any of you have ever read the children's book, "NO, David,No!" by David Shanon, one my favorite children's authors, you will understand how I'm feeling about Grant these days. When I found out I was having a boy I was scared and now I know why! In the last week alone he has;

  1. Killed Gracie's fish by squeezing it between his fingers, and then put it back in the tank for Gracie to find all bloody with eyes popped out.

  2. Tried to kill the next set of fish we got to replace the first one by pouring all the fish food we have in the tank. We'll still waiting to see if they make it through that!

  3. Took a marker and drew all over the upstairs hallway and doors, which I had to paint over because it would come off. I've been painting everyday during nap time for a week!

  4. And through my cell phone in the sink, and I only discovered it at the bottom of a pile of dishes with the water on. So, I guess I need a new cell phone.

OK and this was just this week! I could name many more like when he pored the milk out on the carpet, or took all the keys off my computer key board(ever since I have to press extra hard on about half the keys), drank his sister pee out of the toilet before she had a chance to flush(this was also this week). Not to mention he has some weird problem where his arms pop put of socket all the time and I have to take to the urgent care (they know my first name down there). So, as you can see I have my hands full. I know what some of you are thinking, quit complaining, and that is the point of this blog. I do need to quit complaining. At the end of the "No David No!" book after the mother has yelled at David for a number of things she says, "Davey, I love you!" So, Grant I LOVE YOU! I hope you forgive me someday for all the yelling and the reversed lock on your door. Love, mom

This post is dedicated to the memory of Milie the fish.

Pumpkin Patch

I took the kids with a big group of friends to the Mother's Nature Pumpkin Patch. It was really fun! They have a hay ride, a maze, bouncy thing, and the kids get to pick out and decorate a pumpkin. Gracie is on fall break so she got to come too. I love having her around. She has such a mother's way about her. She helps me with Grant so much.

Beach Trip

We recently went to San Diego with some of our good friends, stayed in a beach house, and went to Sea World. The kids has so much fun! Thank heavens for modern technology! The DVD player saved me during the 6 hours there and back!

Turning 6

For Gracies 6th birthday she really wanted to have a water party. So, we borrowed Grandma and Grandpa's huge blow up slide and set up a slip-n-slide and the kids had a blast. It was a lot of fun! She invited more kids this year than in years before. So in our little house things got a little loud, but all that matters is that at the end of the day Gracie said, "This was the best day ever! My perfect day!" It made sweating it out for an hour worth it!

1st grade

Gracie started the first grade last Wed. This time I didnt cry, but I do miss her. She's growing up. It's fun, but sad. She likes her class and new school. It's funny the difference a year makes. Last year I picked out her clothes and did her hair how I wanted to. This year she picked out her clothes and was very specific about her hair.

Grandmas House

Last week while my friend Kalene did my hair my mom watched my kids, and they got in the kiddy pool with Grandma. I am so lucky to have her nearby to help me out, and she does a lot! They both love going to Grandma's house. Grant is so funny! He calls both my mom and dad "Grandma". My dad, the other Grandma, recently built a huge fort for all the grandkids to play on. They have a blast over there.

Father's Day

This fathers day I made Kent a little book with pictures of the kids doing all the things he can be seen doing. Gracie had fun dressing up in daddy's clothes, but Grant hated it and was crying almost the whole time. It's a miracle I got a few pictures with him smiling.

Eight is Great!

Kent and I recently had our eighth anniversary, but we almost missed it. Our anniversary is on the 7th and on the 3rd it hit me! "In four days it's our anniversary!" I thought about not telling Kent and going out and getting him something great so he would feel really bad, but I decided that was mean since I really only remembered 4 days prior myself. We ended up staying in and watching some rented DVDs. I guess when you forget and then don't celebrate your anniversary you've either been married too long or getting old, or both! We're planning a post anniversary night out some time soon!
p.s. the 2nd song on my music list is the song we had our first dance to :)

Dancing Diva!

For almost the last year Gracie has been taking dance lessons at SAS dance. The class she was in was called Dancing Divas. She has gone back and forth about whether she enjoyed it or not. She stuck it out and last Friday she had her recital. Both her and Kent and I had a lot of fun. Maybe it's because I'm her mom, but I thought she did a really good job. It has been neat to see her work at something and improve over a long time period. Hopefully she will want to keep sticking with it.

Milie the fish!

Introducing the newest member of the Bergeson family, the fish Milie. The other morning while Gracie was getting dressed for school she came out of her bathroom and asked,"Mommy, do beetles sleep for a long time?" Let me explain, Gracie found this little black beetle and decided to make it her pet. She put it in one of her empty lip gloss containers and let it crawl all over her for a few days. Not knowing how attached she had become to this bug I said, "Gracie it's probably dead." Wrong answer! She began to cry and cry. Now, feeling like the biggest jerk, I said, "Well, would you like a fish?" So, that is how we ended up with Milie. Everyday after school now Gracie rushes up to her room to watch Milie. I am surprised how entertaining a fish can be to a little girl who has been pet deprived her whole life. Hopefully this will keep her off my back for a kitty or puppy for a while.

the difference....

between boys and girls is becoming more and more apparent the older Grant gets. Today I took him to the zoo with a few friends and he was crazy! He screamed at the top of his lungs, kept climbing out of his stroller and running like a wild man! It was still fun but he sure is exhausting. I am glad to have a boy, and am trying to enjoy each moment. Some moments are easier to enjoy than others.

Grant Turns Two!

Grant turned 2 last week! He is so cute! I made him a birthday cake with a cat on it. He loves cats. The weirdest thing. Anyway, these are the Elmo years. He mostly got Elmo toys this year. He loves "E-M-O".

My Favorite Holiday Besides Christmas

This Valentines Day was a lot of fun in our house. Daddy brought home balloons for both the kids which they loved and he wrote me one of his famous poems. He writes the funniest poems for me from time to time. This year I made Kent a book with some special memories and pictures in it. For instance there was a picture of where we were standing the first time we kissed and a picture of the first apartment we lived in. I also wrote a poem. My poem went along with each one of the pictures in the book. It was fun! I love Valentines Day!
